FESOJ Accepts Resignation of Secretary General

The Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) has accepted the resignation of its Secretary General, who was recently appointed the new government spokesperson.

Recently, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced the appointment of Mohamed Moalimuu as the new Spokesperson of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

Moalimuu also takes over as the new Senior Media Advisor to the Prime Minister.

On December 27, Moalimuu tendered his resignation virtually during a meeting with the President and other senior officials of FESOJ.

While accepting Moalimuu’s resignation, President Abadir Abdulkadir Elmi said that FESOJ “respects the former Secretary General’s will.”

Elmi confirmed that FESOJ would adhere to its constitution by convening an extraordinary session soon to elect a new Secretary General.

He praised Moalimuu as a “dedicated leader who excelled in activism for the benefit of all Somali journalists.”

Moalimuu also addressed his colleagues during Sunday’s virtual session.

In his address, Moalimuu praised his colleagues for understanding his position and accepting his resignation.
