FESOJ Commends Somalia Civil Societies for Fighting for Press Freedom

The Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) has commended the role that civil societies have played in fighting for press freedom in the country.

FESOJ expressed gratitude to the civil societies operating under the umbrella of Somalia Non-State Actors (SONSA).

The federation hailed civil societies for “actively participating” and supporting the media organizations in the East African nation to fight for their freedom.

FESOJ stated this during a meeting that it organized on August 31.

Several journalists and other stakeholders attended the meeting. SONSA also sent its representatives to the workshop.

The Ministry of Information, media organizations, and civil societies were all represented too.

Participants discussed safety of journalists in the country, access to information, and impunity on the part of authorities.
