The Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) held a training workshop for young female journalists in Dhusamareb from August 11-12, 2020.
FESOJ said it successfully trained the 25 journalists with funding from the Delegation of the European Union to Somalia.
Furthermore, it stated that the training would not have taken place without the input of the Finnish Foundation for Media and Development (VIKES).
The journalists were from multiple independent media outlets in the region.
FESOJ has conducted similar training workshops elsewhere in the country. Journalists in Mogadishu, Jowhar, Kismayo, Baidoa, and Garowe have benefited from previous trainings.
Galmudug’s Minister of Information, Ahmed Shire Falagle officially opened and closed the two-day workshop in the state’s capital.
Moreover, Falagle extended his appreciation to VIKES, FESOJ, and the EU for working together to equip female journalists in the region with more skills.
