The Federation of Somali Trade Unions (FESTU) has demanded a “fair deal” for all workers at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
FESTU made this call on December 15 after receiving a report from the Union Organizers of Mogadishu Airport Workers.
Union Organizers of Mogadishu Airport Workers represent staff employed by FAVORI, which the government hired to manage the facility at the country’s capital city.
FESTU demanded “nothing short of a fair deal for workers at the airport.”
It also urged FAVORI to ensure that workers enjoy “safe working environment.”
The federation encouraged FAVORI to set workers up with the “decent jobs and tasks that they deserve.”
This year, workers at the airport went on strike to protest “unfavorable working conditions” and “delayed salaries.”
FESTU has repeatedly called for an “end to exploitation of Somali workers” employed by FAVORI.
It has not shied away from demanding an end to the abuses directed towards Somali workers.
