A top official of the Federation of Somali Trade Unions (FESTU) congratulated the new East African Community (EAC) Secretary General.
Omar Faruk Osman, FESTU’s Secretary General, extended his congratulations and those of the workers’ union to Dr. Peter Mutuku Mathuki.
Dr. Mathuki was elected the new EAC Secretary General on February 27.
Mathuki, a Kenyan, is now set to serve as the regional body’s Secretary General for five years.
At the end of the first term, he would be eligible for reelection.
Osman described Dr. Mathuki as a friend whose appointment in the regional body is “well deserved.”
