On Monday, the Federal Government of Somalia, through the Ministry of Health confirmed 35 new COVID-19 cases. Consequently, the total number of cases the country has confirmed now stands at 60.
Dr. Fawziya Abikar, the Minister of Health, said 32 of the new cases are in Mogadishu. She said that the country recorded two more cases in Hargeisa Town. Borama now has its first positive Coronavirus case too.
During her daily Coronavirus updates to the media, Dr. Abikar said, “Fifty-two of the cases are quarantined in their houses where they are recovering. One more patient is in Halane Base Camp’s isolation center recuperating.”
The minister asked the public to continue observing the measures the government has put in place. These include staying at home, observing social distancing, and providing the elderly members of the society as well as those with chronic diseases with special care.
