The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) held a two-day workshop with ministers and leaders from Federal Member States (FMS) to discuss and review the transitional plan.
Representatives from the security forces at the federal and regional level also attended the important workshop.
Furthermore, officers representing Somalia’s international partners were at all the sessions to listen to the latest updates from the stakeholders.
Somali officials discussed the support the country needs to implement the Somali Transition Plan (STP) with the international partners.
The stakeholders also talked about the upcoming elections in the country.
Somalia is to hold parliamentary polls in December 2020 followed by presidential elections in February 2021.
Consequently, the need for improved security has increased substantially.
International partners have promised to work closely with security agents and agencies in the country to ensure that the elections take place in a secure and peaceful environment.
