Senior officials from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) held discussions with a delegation from the African Union Mission (AUM) on transition.
During the meeting that took place on August 18, the two sides discussed the model of the AU Transitional Mission.
African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops are scheduled to leave Somalia by the end of the year.
With AMISOM’s mandate ending later this year, there is need to make sure that Somalia is ready to assume the different roles that the mission was responsible for in its 10-year presence in the country.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble led the Somali government officials in the negotiations.
