Finance ministers from the Horn of Africa region held a virtual meeting on March 31 to discuss economic integration.
The ministers were from Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, and Ethiopia.
They met under the facilitation of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The ministers discussed ways of “fostering economic integration under the Horn of Africa Initiative.”
Furthermore, they hailed Sudan’s participation in the session as an observer.
The ministers also commended the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) for taking part in the Wednesday discussion.
They encouraged Sudan to continue reengaging with the Bretton Woods’ institutions.
The finance ministers promised to incorporate Sudan as one of the members of the Horn of Africa Initiative too.
Dr. Abdirahman Beileh, Somalia’s Minister of Finance, called the meeting “fruitful.”
