Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, has addressed recent criticism of his remarks regarding elections in Somaliland, attributing the controversy to “ill-fated politically motivated individuals” who, he claims, have misrepresented his statements.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Fiqi reaffirmed his commitment to promoting national unity and fostering cohesion among all Somali people.
Fiqi emphasized that his efforts are directed toward building solidarity across Somalia and the broader Horn of Africa region, aligning with the government’s broader vision for inclusivity and national reconciliation.
