MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, welcomed the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, Ambassador James Swan, at his Mogadishu office on Friday.
The meeting brought together other high-ranking officials from the United Nations mission. The conversation focused on intensifying collaboration between Somalia’s Federal Government and the United Nations.
Primary subjects assessed were the present security environment, the progression of national security institutional reforms, and the actual execution of pledges concerning child protection in conflict-affected areas.
Both sides participated in an extensive conversation about the “2025 Action Plan Guide,” an initiative intended to secure the wellbeing of minors impacted by warfare.
Fiqi and Amb. Swan underlined the urgent requirement for reliable accountability structures, improved coordination between agencies, and rigorous precautionary actions to shield children during security operations.
Their meeting demonstrates the sustained alliance between Somalia and the UN in promoting peacebuilding initiatives and maintaining that human rights standards stay fundamental to the country’s security evolution and stability procedures.
