Somalia’s Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, recently held a phone call with his Djiboutian counterpart, Ambassador Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, to congratulate him on his appointment as Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Ambassador Omar brings extensive diplomatic experience to his new role, having previously served as Djibouti’s Ambassador to Kuwait from December 2021.
Prior to that, he was the Senior Counsellor at Djibouti’s Embassy in Kenya from February 2015 to June 2021.
His career also includes roles such as Deputy Director of the Bilateral Relations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and various positions within the Ministry of Education.
Ambassador Omar’s diverse background is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening the bilateral relations between Somalia and Djibouti.
