Fiqi Hosts Chinese Ambassador for Talks at the Foreign Affairs HQs in Mogadishu

On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi met with Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mogadishu.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding areas of joint cooperation between Somalia and China.

This meeting builds upon recent high-level engagements between the two nations.

In February 2025, foreign affairs ministers Fiqi and Wang Yi met in New York, where they reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation and supporting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Additionally, in September 2024, Presidents Xi Jinping and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud elevated China-Somalia relations to a strategic partnership during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing.

These developments reflect a mutual dedication to deepening diplomatic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration, contributing to the stability and development of both countries.
