Fiqi Launches Strategic Training to Boost MoD and SNA Communication Capabilities

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Defence, Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, officially launched a three-day training session aimed at strengthening the unified communications strategy of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Somali National Army (SNA).

The initiative is part of a broader effort to counter terrorist narratives, enhance public awareness, and reinforce the ministry’s position as the primary source of accurate information on matters of national security and defence.

In his opening remarks, Fiqi emphasized the crucial role of strategic communication in the fight against terrorism and insecurity. “Strong armies win battles — an informed society wins the war,” he stated, underlining the importance of building trust between the security institutions and the Somali public.

The training brings together MoD and SNA communication officers, media experts, and strategic advisors, focusing on skills such as media engagement, crisis communication, and proactive messaging.

Officials hope the outcome will lead to a more coordinated, transparent, and resilient information environment in Somalia — one that can effectively challenge extremist propaganda and empower citizens with facts.

This training reflects the government’s continued commitment to professionalizing the security sector and ensuring that communication becomes a central pillar in the effort to build peace and stability in the country.
