Fiqi Leads Somali Delegation to AU Meeting in Uganda

Somalia’s Foreign Minister, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and the Permanent Secretary, Hamza Haadow, were at the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo CAADP Agenda.

Their presence and participation underscores Somalia’s commitment to addressing key challenges in agriculture and food security.

The summit, held in Kampala, Uganda, focuses on advancing agricultural development, enhancing food security, and fostering sustainable economic growth across Africa.

Somalia’s delegation, warmly received by Ambassador Fardausa Kanyare, is expected to engage in critical discussions on implementing the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) agenda.

This includes strategies for improving resilience, scaling sustainable agricultural practices, and strengthening regional collaboration to mitigate the impacts of climate change and conflict on food systems.

Their participation reflects Somalia’s growing involvement in regional initiatives aimed at promoting long-term development and achieving sustainable food security.
