The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Moallim Fiqi has issued a strong warning to foreign diplomats, cautioning them against using the phrase “Somalia and Somaliland.”
He emphasized that any attempt to fragment a unified entity and reclassify it under two distinct names is completely unacceptable and represents a direct attack on Somalia’s sovereignty and unity.
Fiqi’s statement underscores the government’s firm stance on maintaining the territorial integrity of Somalia and rejecting any language or actions that could imply recognition of Somaliland’s independence.
