The first phase of the construction of Berbera Port is on the verge of completion, Deputy Ambassador Barkhad Mohamoud Kaariye has announced.
According to Ambassador Kaariye, the first phase of construction of the Port of Berbera should be complete by the end of 2020.
During an interview with The Ethiopian Herald in Addis Ababa, Barkhad also confirmed that the entire project would be completed by 2021.
He confirmed that the project cost $442 million.
The construction of the port hinges on a tripartite agreement that gives DP World 51% stake in it with Ethiopia and Somaliland governments taking 19% and 30% respectively.
