The Minister of Fisheries held a meeting with the Head of the Food and Agriculture (FAO) Office in Somalia on Sunday.
The meeting between Ahmed Hassan Aden and Etienne Peterschmitt took place on September 4 in Mogadishu.
Aden is the fisheries and marine resources minister.
Peterschmitt serves as the Head of the FAO Office in Somalia.
Their meeting focused on several issues. Primarily, they focused on improving cooperation to develop the fisheries sector in Somalia.
Secondly, Aden and Peterschmitt agreed on the need for building economic development in Somalia.
The impact of climate change and the ongoing drought featured prominently in their talks too.
Consequently, the minister and the FAO head discussed ways of offering new livelihoods to those working in the fisheries sector in the face of climate change and drought.
