Five fighters of the Al-Shabaab were killed in the latest drone attack carried out by the United States military in the Bay Region.
United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) carried out a drone attack in Saaha-Weyne, Bay Region on January 7, 2021.
AFRICOM carried out the attack in conjunction with the Somali National Army (SNA) forces.
The attack targeted specific leaders of the Al-Qaeda linked group.
According to AFRICOM, no civilian died or was injured in the Thursday attack.
Maj. Gen. Dagvin Anderson, Commander of AFRICOM’s Joint Task Force-Quartz, confirmed that the US military targeted specific Al-Shabaab leaders with its latest drone attack.
He expressed pleasure that the latest attack proves that the US military remains committed in its obligation towards its partners.
