Five Al-Shabaab militants lost their lives in a military airstrike that the United States military carried out on Friday.
A statement from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) indicated that they died in an operation carried out in Berhani, which is to the west of Kismayo.
The airstrike is the first one by the US military since February 2022.
The US military carried out the first attack (airstrike) in Somalia since President Joe Biden announced that his country’s troops would return to the East African nation.
US military left Somalia a year ago following the decision by former US President Donald Trump to withdraw them from the East African nation.
