Five people were killed on the spot when a remotely controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off early on Saturday morning.
A security source has confirmed the incident, which has once again rocked Baidoa and left residents in shock.
According to the source and other eyewitnesses, the IED explosion seemed to target a tax collection site, which is located to the south of Baidoa town.
Baidoa has been the scene of multiple attacks carried out by Al-Shabaab extremists. The Al-Qaeda linked group is yet to claim responsibility for the recent attack, though.
Local authorities have sealed off the area and commenced investigations into today’s incident.
