Five People Died in Recent Protests in Somaliland

Five people died in the recent protests that took place in Somaliland.

Initially, reports indicated that three people died in the protests by opposition supporters in Hargeisa, the Somaliland capital.

However, authorities have now updated that to five deaths.

Opposition supporters in the country have vowed to continue with the protests to convince the Somaliland government to hold elections on November 13, 2022, as initially scheduled.

There have been fears that the government wants to postpone the elections.

Other reports indicate that the protests, which took place on August 11, left more than 100 people injured.

A few government leaders said that security officers were among those hurt in the clashes.
