Flash Floods Affect 278,000 People in Somalia

The ongoing flash floods in Somalia affect close to 278,000 people around the country.

In recent days, Somalia has experienced a sharp increase in heavy rains.

The downpours continue creating flash floods that force people to leave their homes.

Currently, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) states that 43,840 people have moved to higher grounds to escape the flash floods.

Additionally, roughly 2,112 shelters now lie in ruins courtesy of the rains and subsequent floods.

Consequently, OCHA and other partners appealed for urgent intervention before the situation led to yet another round of humanitarian crises in Somalia.
