Former AMISOM Commander Dies of Blood Clot

A former commander of the Ugandan contingent of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has died of blood clot.

Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) issued a statement on August 21 confirming the death of Paul Lokech.

Reports from Uganda indicate that Maj. Gen. Lokech died at his home on Saturday morning.

At the time of his death, Maj. Gen. Lokech was the Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Martin Okoth Ochola, the Inspector General of Police, confirmed that he had asked Dr. Moses Byaruhanga to perform a postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of Lokech’s death.

Dr. Byaruhanga is the Director of Medical Services.
