Former Finance Minister to Vie in Somalia’s Presidential Elections

Hussein Abdi Halane, a former Minister of Finance, has thrown his hat into the race to Villa Somalia in the country’s upcoming presidential elections.

Halane announced his candidature on Sunday, September 13.

While making the announcement, Halane reminded Somali voters that he has the experience and expertise required to steer the country through the tough and rough transition ahead.

Currently, he serves as the Chairperson of the Life and Justice Party.

Halane joins a race that already includes the current President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and immediate former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.

The former Prime Minister declared his candidature on Saturday, September 12.

They are likely to be joined by Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh, two former Somalia presidents who have already formed a coalition known as Forum for National Parties (FNP).
