Former Prime Minister of Somalia Diagnosed with Coronavirus in London

Nur Hassan Hussein, a former Prime Minister of Somalia, has been diagnosed with Coronavirus and is now hospitalized in a London hospital.

Since it was first reported in China in December 2019, COVID-19 has brought the global economy to a near standstill.

It has killed tens of thousands of people around the world too.

News that the former PM Hussein alias Nur Adde contracted the virus makes him the first high-ranking public figure in Africa to test positive for COVID-19.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire confirmed the sad news to the country. However, he did not divulge full reports on the progress of his predecessor.

PM Khaire tweeted, “It is our prayer that God will grant our former PM Nur Hussein quick recovery. He is ill in London where he is hospitalized.”

Adde was the Prime Minister of the Horn of Africa nation from 2007 to 2009 under the leadership of President Aden Madobe and the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.
