A former minister in the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) blasted Somaliland for arresting a renowned marine scientist from Puntland.
Abdisaid Muse Ali, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his unhappiness with the detention of Prof. Abdirahman Jama Kulmiye by Somaliland this week.
Ali told Somaliland authorities that they were wrong to arrest Prof. Kulmiye who is a consultant and researcher with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The ex-minister blasted Somaliland for the “illegal detention” of Prof. Kulmiye.
He added that Somaliland could create a diplomatic row considering that Prof. Kulmiye holds an Australian citizenship too.
Ali called Prof. Kulmye’s arrest a “blatant violation of his human rights.”
Somaliland arrested Prof. Kulmiye after accusing him of spying for Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
