A former Prime Minister of Somalia has died in Ethiopia’s Somali region.
Reports confirm that Ali Khalif Galeyr died in Jigjiga, the administrative capital of Ethiopia’s Somali region on Wednesday.
Galeyr died at the age of 79 years.
Omar Faruk Warfaa, the Deputy Presidency Minister of the region, confirmed news of Galeyr’s death to the public.
Galeyr has been receiving medical treatment in Jigjiga after falling sick the last couple of days.
He served as Somalia’s Prime Minister between October 8, 2000 and October 28, 2001.
Other than that, Galeyr also served as the President of Khatumo State, after it signed a peace accord with Somaliland.
Khatumo State no longer exists, though.
