Former Southwest Speaker Appointed the New State Minister by Somali Prime Minister

Hassan Ali Khaire, the Prime Minister of Somalia, has appointed a former Southwest Speaker, Abdikadir Sharif Sheikhuna Maya, as the new State Minister in charge of Commerce and Industries.

The decision means that Maya replaces Dahir Abdi Abdullahi, who appears to have been sacked. However, reasons for his sacking remain unclear. PM Khaire released a statement showing the latest changes made to the government.

Dahir was the State Minister for Commerce and Industries. He held this position for two years before his sacking and eventual replacing by Maya. Dahir is yet to confirm or respond to news of his sacking.

PM Khaire announced that Maya should take his new position immediately. He assumes the new office immediately.

Prior to his appointment, Maya had been the Speaker in the Southwest Parliament. He was part of the group of lawmakers who served in the last parliament as Speaker after winning the 2015 elections.
