A former representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) visited sick Somalis at Benadir Hospital in Mogadishu.
Angela Kearney, the ex-UNICEF representative, visited the sick on March 11.
During her visit, Kearney spent time with Leylo Mohamed, whose twins are admitted at the hospital receiving treatment for diarrhea.
The ongoing drought, which has devastated much of the country, has caused the outbreak and worsening of several diseases.
Currently, the number of patients diagnosed with cholera, measles, diarrhea, and malnutrition has increased exponentially.
UNICEF has vowed to work closely with the Somali government and other stakeholders to prevent and treat these diseases.
