An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast that was aimed at the police manning a roadblock in Mogadishu exploded and injured four people.
Authorities announced that among the injured were two Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers who were operating the security checkpoint.
The device exploded at the checkpoint on Tarabunka junction, as police stopped and searched vehicles as part of government-imposed security measures.
“Following the explosion, security forces opened fire at various directions, which then injured two civilians who were nearby,” eyewitnesses said.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack. Al-Shabaab is notorious for carrying out similar attacks targeted at police and government soldiers.
