Four Somali National Army (SNA) battalions have graduated from the TurkSom Military Academy.
Both Turkey and Somali military jointly run the academy, which has operated in the country since 2017.
It is designed primarily to train new recruits for the SNA. However, members who are already part of SNA are free to take refresher courses or pursue further studies at the academy.
Since 2017, the academy has trained over 150 officers who have gone on to serve in SNA. It has trained more than 250 non-commissioned officers (NCOs) in that time too.
Currently, the academy is training the fifth battalion.
