The French government has delivered 30,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines to Somaliland to help in the fight against COVID-19.
Somaliland received the vaccines on August 11.
Officials from Somaliland’s Ministry of Health were at the main airport in Hargeisa to receive the new doses, which are part of the COVAX facility.
The health ministry representatives expressed gratitude to the French government for the show of solidarity with Somaliland, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.
Officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) were also present to hand over the consignment.
This represents the third time that Somaliland is receiving a donation of vaccines to vaccinate its people against COVID-19.
