France, Somaliland Pledge Stronger Ties in Culture and Agriculture

Nairobi, Kenya – The French Embassy in Somalia has praised the “fruitful” discussions held between Ambassador Arnaud Suquet and Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Irro in Nairobi, highlighting a shared commitment to deepen cooperation in culture and agriculture.

The talks focused on advancing key development initiatives, including the preservation of Somaliland’s rich cultural heritage and supporting rural livelihoods. France reaffirmed its support for the protection of iconic archaeological sites such as Laas Geel, one of the Horn of Africa’s most important rock art locations.

In the agricultural sector, both sides expressed a commitment to boost livelihoods by supporting livestock farmers and enhancing camel milk production, a vital economic activity across Somaliland.

“These projects reflect France’s continued support for development initiatives that empower local communities,” the Embassy stated, underscoring the importance of long-term collaboration in sustainable growth and heritage preservation.
