The new invasion is likely to exacerbate the already dire situation farmers around the country have been struggling with this year.
Food shortage has already hit the East African nation.
Incessant flooding and the COVID-19 pandemic have worsened the situation by making food insecurity and shortages a reality.
The Federal Government of Somalia, United Nations, Food and Agriculture Organization, and other international partners have stepped in to control the infestation.
Thus far, it is not clear whether their efforts are bearing any fruit.
