Galmudug Holds Elections for Remaining Two Senators

Galmudug held its elections for the remaining two senators on Saturday, November 13.

With the election of the two senators, Somalia has now completed polls for all its members of the Upper House.

During today’s elections, Abdi Awale Qaybdiid and Mahad Aden Guled were elected the newest senators.

Consequently, the Upper House is now 54-members full.

Nevertheless, only 13 of the new members are women.

With this, Somalia fell short of the proposed women quota of 30 percent. Only 24 percent of the new senators are women.

The spotlight is now on the elections for House of the People members.
