Galmudug has launched literacy and enrolment campaigns targeting disadvantaged communities in the region.
Mohamed Hashi Dore, Galmudug State’s Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, announced this on August 12.
Dore said that the campaigns have already been running for the last four weeks.
The minister said that the campaigns are part of the regional state’s concerted efforts aimed at improving access to education.
“We will also focus on community outreach efforts to boost literacy and enrolment in the region,” Dore stated.
According to the education minister, over 100 young graduates have agreed to volunteer their time to ensure that members of rural communities in the region acquire basic skills.
He named some of the skills the administration seeks to impart to the local communities as reading, writing, and numeracy.
