Galmudug Regional Assembly to Resume Second Session on August 27

The Regional Assembly of Somalia’s semiautonomous state of Galmudug is scheduled to resume its second session on August 27.

Mohamed Nur Ga’al, the Speaker of Galmudug Parliament, made this announcement on earlier this week.

Consequently, Speaker Ga’al has called on all the serving Members of Parliament (MPs) to report to the parliamentary building on Wednesday ahead of the reopening.

The COVID-19 pandemic that rocked the region from early March 2020 forced the postponement of the second session.

MPs were unable to travel after the government of Somalia imposed several restrictions designed to curb the spread of the virulent disease.

Regional President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor is expected at the reopening ceremony.

Among other issues, the Regional Assembly will discuss security matters. The legislators will also discuss political and economic matters.
