Garbaharey Residents Accuse Roble-Appointed Committee of Partisanship

Hundreds of residents in Garbaharey took to the streets on March 8 to protest the findings of the 7-member committee recently appointed by the Prime Minister.

A few days ago, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble appointed a committee to look into the reasons Garbaharey was unable to hold elections for federal Lower House seats.

Over the weekend, the 7-member committee held consultative meetings with several leaders in Garbaharey.

On Tuesday, residents protested the findings of the committee.

In their view, the residents accused members of the committee of partisanship.

Additionally, they also expressed their displeasure at the news that the committee recommended moving the elections from Garbaharey to Kismayo.
