Officers from the Gedo Drought Relief Committee visited several internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps in the region.
The officials visited the camps in Bardere town, Gedo.
According to sources, the officials wanted to assess the humanitarian situation in the IDP camps first.
The IDP camps are getting overcrowded.
They continue attracting individuals from drought-stricken families in the region.
Both the government and international organizations have declared the ongoing drought in many parts of Somalia a humanitarian crisis.
Drought continues to displace hundreds, if not thousands, of people daily.
