Gedo is in Civil War, says Former President of Somalia

Gedo region is in civil war. That is according to Abdiqasim Salad Hassan, a former President of Somalia. He made this statement when speaking to the media in Mogadishu.

“The fighting we see in Gedo is predominantly civil war. It is no longer a case of some distant disaffected people committing suicide,” President Hassan said.

He asked the Federal Government of Somalia to intervene before the situation worsens. “FSG’s mediation efforts and dispute-solving mechanisms are mandatory in Gedo,” he said.

The former president said that resolution of all conflicts in a peaceful manner is essential for the well-being of all residents in the region.

He spoke at a time of great turmoil in Gedo. FSG’s forces have been battling those of the Jubaland administration.

President Hassan ended his speech by calling on the local communities, elders, and authorities to work together to end the violence that threatens security in the entire region.
