Germany Says Locust Invasion in Somalia Threatens Livelihoods

The German government through its Embassy to Somalia has called the locust invasion in Somalia a threat to livelihood.

On December 15, the German Embassy responded to an earlier statement by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on the desert locust invasion in the East African nation.

In its statement, the German Embassy said that the situation in Somalia remains a “serious concern.”

It also mentioned the threat that the invasion poses to communities around the country, who are already experiencing high levels of food insecurity.

The Embassy said that the German government remains committed to helping Somalia to pursue necessary control measures.
