Germany Supports IRC’s Efforts in Somalia with €1.5 Million in Funding

Germany continues to support the efforts of International Rescue Commission (IRC) in Somalia after it released funds worth €1.5 million to the organization.

The funds are from the German Foreign Office.

The Germany Embassy in Somalia, which is based in Nairobi, announced that the funds would support IRC’s efforts in the Somalia region of Mudug.

Through the funds, IRC is scheduled to provide health services to the locals with a special emphasis on reproductive health.

Furthermore, the organization would use the funds to ensure that survivors of sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) receive the clinical care they need.

Additionally, the funds would go towards providing Mudug with access to clean water.

The locals would also benefit from access to quality sanitation and hygiene services, which are crucial in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Germany announced the release of these funds on September 2 while providing details of its new partnership with IRC.
