The Federal Government of Somalia has appointed a committee to investigate the deadly shootout at a Mogadishu prison.
The shootout at Mogadishu Central Prison, which took place on Monday, caused the deaths of 19 individuals.
On Tuesday, the government appointed a 6-member committee to investigate the circumstances that made the shootout possible.
Prison authorities confirmed that several inmates charged for crimes committed as members of Al-Shabaab tried to escape from prison yesterday evening.
The committee will investigate how the inmates got their hands on weapons, which they used to attack and kill several prison guards.
