The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has condemned the ongoing mass arrest of Somalis in Zambia.
On October 29, reports emerged from the Zambian city of Ndola of the Somalis being transported to the local stadium in their droves.
The Zambian government allegedly conducted the transportation and eventual arrest.
Somalis in Ndola were taken from their businesses and homes. They were then taken to the local stadium.
Somalia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has expressed “deep concerns” over this development.
According to the foreign affairs ministry, the arrests are based on nothing but “ethnicity.”
The ministry, in a statement, said that it’s currently engaging Ndola authorities and Zambian officials for further clarity on the matter.
Furthermore, the ministry hopes for an expeditious resolution to the matter.
