The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has dispatched a delegation to oversee the search and rescue efforts currently underway in Qardho.

For several days,  Qardho has been the scene of horrific flash floods and intense downpours that have caused deaths, displacements, and destruction of infrastructure.

Jamal Mohamed Hassan (the Minister of Planning), Abdulahi Bidhan (the Minister of Fisheries), and Mohamud Hayir (the State Minister of Finance), form part of the delegation.

Accompanying them are Abdirashid Mohamed Hassan (the State Minister of Humanitarian Efforts), and two lawmakers identified as Mohamud Maas and Omar Waberi.

Earlier, FGS donated $1 million to the Puntland administration to help it deploy search and rescue missions, rebuild infrastructure, and support vulnerable members of the society.
