The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) insists that the fresh round of talks with Federal Member States (FMS) will be held in Garowe.
This comes amidst recent criticisms of the announcement by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo that fresh talks would kick off on February 15.
Farmaajo made this announcement after the Dhusamareb talks, held from February 1-5, failed to produce any deal or solution for the ongoing electoral impasse.
On Thursday, Osman Dubbe, Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, said that the talks would proceed in Garowe as initially announced.
According to Dubbe, Garowe was chosen because it enjoys peace and stability.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to holding credible elections to the satisfaction of all voters and stakeholders.
