The government of Somaliland has pledged to renovate one of the most historic places of worship in the country.
Masjid al-Qiblatayn, which is also known as the Labo-Qibla Mosque, is set to benefit from extensive renovations.
Labo-Qibla Mosque is in Somaliland’s Awdal Province.
The Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Industry made this announcement on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
The trade and tourism ministry announced its plans regarding the historic mosque during a session with the Parliamentary Committee on Financial Affairs.
During the briefing, the ministry announced plans to not only rebuild, but also restore and renovate one of the country’s iconic landmarks.
According to minutes from the briefing, the government has already set aside funds for renovating the oldest mosque in Somaliland.
