Governor Hamse Mohamed Abdi of Togder region, has died in Turkey in a hospital in the country’s capital of Istanbul.
His death occurred just a day after he was airlifted to Turkey from Somaliland for further medication.
However, Governor Abdi was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the hospital.
According to reports, Governor Abdi has been ailing for the past three weeks. His condition grew worse hence the decision to airlift him to Istanbul for advanced medical treatment.
His close relatives have indicated that the governor was diagnosed with a kidney disease.
Governor Abdi, who was born in Buroa City in 1969, leaves behind a widow and nine children.
His body is scheduled to be brought back home for burial. Reports indicate that the government has planned a state funeral for the departed governor.
