Ali Roba, the Governor of Mandera County in Kenya has called for help from security agencies after Al-Shabaab militants continued to wreak havoc in the region.
Governor Roba issued the cry for help on January 8, 2021.
He was speaking following resurgence in attacks by members of the Al-Qaeda linked group in Mandera and the adjacent areas.
According to Roba, Al-Shabaab militants have grown bolder in the types of terror attacks carried out in the northeastern county.
Roba said that the people of Mandera County now live in fear.
He confirmed that members of the group have been crossing into Kenya with increasing alacrity from Somalia.
Furthermore, Governor Roba stated that residents keep losing their livestock to the militants in the name of Zakat, or offering.
Governor Roba called for a radical approach to solving this growing problem.
Shockingly, Governor Roba indicated that Al-Shabaab extremists now control over 60 percent of Mandera County.
